چکیده
We present a 20-year-old male with agranulocytosis secondary to metimazole. The patient was admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) for sepsis, retrofaringeal abscess, and upper airway obstruction. Tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation was used. Severe tetraparesia and critical illness polyneuropathy was developed while the patient was in the ICU requiring prolongedmechanical ventilation and tracheostomy. Once the patient improved, oral nutrition was started. However, repeated pneumonia was observed which required antibiotic therapy, so oral nutrition was stopped.

Clinical significance of additional lateral imaging in diagnosis of prosthesis infection by combined Tc-99m labeled leukocyte/bone marrow scintigraphy
Introduction: Recently the most accurate diagnostic method in the diagnosis of prosthesis infection is the combination of Tc-99m labeled leukocyte/bone marrow imaging. However the diagnostic efficiency of the test is influenced because of its low spatial resolution. Recently SPECT/CT imaging is implicated in this test with efficient additional diagnostic improvement. In the dep...
متن کاملAcquired Tracheoesophageal Fistula through Esophageal Diverticulum in Patient Who Had a Prolonged Tracheostomy Tube - A Case Report -
Acquired tracheoesophageal fistula through esophageal diverticulum is infrequent. We report tracheoesophageal fistula through esophageal diverticulum in a 55-year-old male who had a prolonged tracheostomy tube during 6 months, and a NG tube during 18 months. He suffered from recurrent pneumonia. He complained of a cough associated with eating, and production of sputum mixed with food. To help e...
متن کاملSPECT-CT fusion in the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism
Objective(s): In this study, we aimed to analyze the relationship between the diagnostic ability of fused single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) images in localization of parathyroid lesions and the size of adenomas or hyperplastic glands. Methods: Five patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and 4 patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) we...
متن کاملThe value of oropharyngoesophageal scintigraphy in the management of aspiration into the tracheobronchial tree in neurological patients.
AIM Dysphagia and bolus aspiration are two of the most frequent and invalidating symptoms of various neurological diseases. Swallowing disorders often lead to tracheobronchial aspiration with consequent pneumonia episodes. Aspiration pneumonia per se constitutes the most frequent cause of death in these patients, with mortality rate ranging from 20% to 62%. Oropharyngoesophageal scintigraphy (O...
متن کاملGiant enostosis of spine with increased uptake on planar and SPECT views of bone scan
An enostosis or bone island is a benign bony lesion that is almost diagnosed based on clinical and radiologic defining characteristics. One of the known diagnostic procedures in the evaluation of enostosis is bone scintigraphy. Generally, we don’t expect to see increased uptake by enostosis in the bone scan. Herein we present a 52-year-old lady who was suffering from chronic low back pain that ...
